CenterPoint Energy is seeking a Property Accounting professional to ensure accurate capital asset recording and reporting under GAAP and regulatory requirements. The role emphasizes timely analysis, asset retirement obligations, and cross-functional collaboration.

The position involves supporting monthly closes, journal entries, and financial reporting, with emphasis on policy application and risk controls. A CPA path or CPA is preferred, and SAP/Oracle Fixed Asset expertise is valued.

Qualifications

• Degree in accounting, finance, or business from an accredited college or university.
• CPA required or actively pursuing CPA certification.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience; public accounting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare regulatory filing schedules and respond to information requests.
• Record and report on Asset Retirement Obligations, including surveys and assumptions.
• Perform SOX control testing and address audit questions.
• Apply capitalization policies and retirement unit guidelines consistently.
• Collaborate with business units to document accounting conclusions.
• Support monthly close with journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
