Paragon Technical Services, in partnership with Ergon Inc, seeks a senior Asphalt Development Engineer to provide technical leadership for research-driven mix design and pavement performance initiatives. This role translates strategic direction into well-executed research programs and focuses on applied research that informs field performance.

The position supports Ergon's Pavement & Coating Resources business through structured research, performance evaluation, and innovation in asphalt mixture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; master's/PhD preferred.
• Extensive experience in asphalt mix design and performance testing.
• Expertise in balanced mix design (BMD) concepts.
• Knowledge of RAP/RAS, aggregates, binders, and mix interactions.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Organize, plan, and execute asphalt mix design research projects.
• Lead laboratory-based research on asphalt performance, durability, and constructability.
• Serve as primary technical contributor for balanced mix design development, evaluation, and implementation.
• Adapt research focus over time based on field feedback and Innovation Council guidance.
• Support near-term and longer-term strategic research initiatives.
