Job summary

Cognizant in Richardson, TX is seeking a Senior SYNON/AS400 Developer to design, build, and support business-critical applications in an AS400 environment. You will collaborate with analysts, leads, QA, and stakeholders to deliver robust solutions across the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities include clarifying requirements, creating technical designs and estimates, developing with RPGLE/RPGILE/CLLE and SYNON, writing unit tests, and supporting deployments.

Qualifications

• Experience in AS400/IBM i development environments.
• Hands-on RPGLE and RPGILE programming.
• Proficiency in CLLE development and system programming.
• Experience developing and maintaining SYNON-based applications.
• Ability to participate in full SDLC lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Partner with analysts and leads to clarify requirements and define solutions.
• Analyze business needs and prepare technical designs, estimates, and development plans.
• Develop, review, and enhance applications using AS400 technologies including RPGLE, RPGILE, CLLE, and SYNON.
• Create and execute unit test plans, resolve defects, and support QA and regression testing.
• Support deployments, production releases, and post-implementation activities.
