Job summary

Iron Mountain Public Schools is seeking a Senior Army Instructor (SAI) to lead the Army JROTC program as department head and program director. The SAI will act as the instructional leader, ensuring quality instruction, cadet development, and compliance with Army Cadet Command requirements.

The role requires meeting Army JROTC eligibility criteria, coordinating with school administration, and managing program operations while mentoring cadet leaders and coordinating with Cadet Command.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership, organization, communication, classroom management, and ability to mentor secondary students.

Responsibilities

• Lead and administer the school’s Army JROTC program and serve as department head.
• Teach assigned JROTC courses using the approved Army JROTC curriculum and district instructional expectations.
• Supervise, coordinate, and collaborate with the Army Instructor (AI), including instructional planning, cadet training, and program operations.
• Develop cadet leadership, citizenship, character, personal responsibility, teamwork, and service.
• Maintain program records, reports, inventories, property accountability, supply procedures, budgets, and required Army/district documentation.
• Plan and oversee cadet activities such as leadership events, drill/ceremonial activities, community service, physical readiness activities, competitions, field experiences, and other approved extracurricular events.
• Advise and mentor cadet leaders and maintain a safe, respectful, student-centered learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, school staff, community partners, Brigade personnel, and Cadet Command.
