Job summary

Fall Mountain Regional School District is seeking a JROTC Army Instructor to lead and deliver the JROTC program for high school cadets (grades 9–12). The role includes developing lesson plans, supervising training at JROTC events and summer camps, and coordinating with school staff to ensure program success.

The successful candidate will be retired Army personnel with a JROTC Instructor Certificate, strong instructional delivery, and excellent communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Must be a retired United States Army personnel.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must meet minimum qualifications by the Department of the Army and hold a Junior ROTC Instructor Certificate from Cadet Command.
• Must possess effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
• Experience working with youth preferred.
• Proven ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with educational technology.

Responsibilities

• Complies with Cadet Command regulations and JROTC program guidelines.
• Provides comprehensive instruction to cadets in the JROTC program.
• Conducts training at JROTC and summer camps.
• Develops short and long-range lesson plans with clear objectives.
• Creates a conducive classroom environment and supports student growth.
• Collaborates with education staff and administrators to maximize program effectiveness.
• Evaluates student progress and counsels cadets on performance.
• Motivates students to develop essential skills and citizenship.
• Monitors safety and maintains orderly movement of students.
• Organizes and participates in JROTC extracurriculars (color guard, drill, raider, marksmanship).
• Maintains JROTC records per Army regulations and local policy.
• Complies with safety guidelines in instruction and supervision.
• Maintains supply accountability per Army security regulations.
• Utilizes varied instructional techniques and media for student needs.
• Coordinates with JROTC staff to plan activities aligned with Cadet Command.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices; participates in staff development.
• Sets a positive example and keeps up with new instructional methods and tech.
• Performs other duties as assigned by principal or administrator.
