Barnard Library’s Senior Archivist position reports to the Director of Archives and Special Collections and oversees processing, reference services, and coordination of the Barnard Archives reading room. The role is primarily in-person with flexibility for remote work as needed, and includes training student staff, providing instruction sessions, and advancing access to archival materials.

It also involves selecting and describing records, and collaborating with campus partners on preservation

Formación

• 5–7 years of archival or related work experience, including instruction, reference, programming, and outreach.
• Master's degree in library and information science or equivalent.
• Experience with instruction and reference services.

Responsabilidades

• Provides in-person and remote reference and research support to a diverse range of students, scholars, and visitors.
• Coordinates reading room activities for researchers and classroom visits.
• Supports imaging services, including on-demand and project-based digitization.
• Delivers introductory primary source instruction sessions orienting students and faculty to the Archives and to archival research.
• Contributes to compiling statistics about archival collections and their use.
• Arranges and describes archival records in all formats per standards.
• Appraises and accession institutional records with stakeholders.
• Educates campus partners on identifying and saving institutional records for transfer.
• Assists accessioning manuscripts from external sources.
