Job summary

The Archivist position within The Episcopal Church’s Archives is based in Oakwood, Georgia, with a period of temporary Austin, Texas work. The role focuses on leading and advancing the Archives, managing a team, and aligning policy with legal and strategic goals.

The successful candidate will oversee archival stewardship, reference services, and program development, collaborating with senior staff and external partners while supporting access to a rich documentary heritage.

Qualifications

• MLIS with concentration in archives or graduate degree with certificate in archival studies.
• ACA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in archival settings.
• Minimum of 5 years supervising staff.
• Experience building an archives program through stakeholder engagement.
• Experience applying archival standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Administer the Archives program and related policies, procedures, and priorities.
• Advise leadership on archives, preservation, access, and information governance.
• Collaborate with Records Manager on records management matters.
• Provide updates to stakeholders on priorities and initiatives.
• Supervise staff (5-6 people) and manage budgeting, operations, and reporting.
• Coordinate with Operations and IT on facilities, security, and archives software.
• Oversee appraisal, acquisition, accessioning, arrangement, description, preservation, and retrieval of records.
