Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering of custom millwork projects from design through fabrication and installation.
  • Produce, review, and approve shop drawings, BOMs, cut lists, and fabrication documents.
  • Interpret plans, measurements, and design concepts to create accurate manufacturing drawings.
  • Engineer cabinetry, casework, panels, countertops, and specialty millwork.
  • Evaluate manufacturability, materials, hardware, joinery, and installation needs.
  • Collaborate with PMs, designers, estimators, CNC programmers, and installers.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts and production issues before fabrication.
  • Support CNC programming, nesting, and production planning.
  • Maintain engineering docs to meet quality standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and CAD staff.
  • Improve procedures, drafting standards, and technical docs.
  • Recommend practical solutions for complex millwork.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Millwork Engineer to lead the engineering and technical execution of high-end custom millwork projects from concept through production. This role is responsible for transforming architectural designs, field measurements, and client specifications into accurate, production-ready engineering packages that support efficient fabrication, assembly, and installation.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in luxury residential millwork, custom cabinetry, and architectural woodwork, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, CNC production, drafting standards, materials, hardware, and joinery. This position also provides technical leadership by mentoring engineering staff and driving continuous improvements in engineering standards and workflows.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering of custom architectural millwork projects from design through fabrication and installation.
  • Produce, review, and approve shop drawings, production drawings, bills of materials, cut lists, and fabrication documents.
  • Interpret architectural plans, specifications, field measurements, and design concepts to create accurate manufacturing drawings.
  • Engineer custom cabinetry, closets, architectural casework, wall paneling, countertops, and specialty millwork.
  • Evaluate projects for manufacturability, material selection, hardware integration, joinery, and installation requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, estimators, CNC programmers, production teams, and installers throughout each project.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, and production issues before fabrication begins.
  • Support CNC programming, material optimization, nesting, and production planning.
  • Maintain engineering documentation that meets quality and manufacturing standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers, CAD designers, and drafters while promoting engineering best practices.
  • Assist with quality control during engineering, production, and installation.
  • Improve engineering procedures, drafting standards, and technical documentation.
  • Recommend practical solutions for complex custom millwork applications.
  • 7+ years of experience in architectural millwork engineering, millwork drafting, or technical design.
  • Strong background in luxury residential construction, custom homes, or premium architectural interiors.
  • Extensive experience engineering custom cabinetry, architectural casework, closets, countertops, and specialty millwork.
  • Advanced ability to create production-ready shop drawings and fabrication documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of CNC manufacturing, woodworking equipment, fabrication techniques, and production workflows.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD, or similar millwork engineering software.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, specifications, and field measurements.
  • Strong knowledge of millwork materials, hardware, joinery, fabrication, and installation methods.
  • Experience working closely with manufacturing teams to solve technical and production challenges.
  • Previous leadership or mentoring experience is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
  • Competitive salary of $110,000–$130,000, based on experience.
