Job description

Harriman’s growing multi-disciplinary practice is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Designer to join our team. With a holistic, ground-up approach to design, our architectural staff works closely with the firm’s integrated engineering groups to fulfill our mission to design relevant and innovative solutions to human needs. Our work is challenging, creative, and is based on the belief that design is a collaborative human endeavor centered on knowledge, ingenuity and beauty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in the conceptual design and provides full support throughout the entire project. Works closely with the Project Manager, other architects/architectural staff, engineering staff, and consultants. Develops and represents lead technical viewpoint on projects. Coordinates with the Project Architect on appropriate technical solutions and product strategies.

They are responsible for preparing plans, specifications, or approval of materials and construction. They apply sound and diverse knowledge of architectural principles and practices in various assignments required to execute a project from start to finish. They can act independently regarding architectural methods and complexities. Supervision and guidance from their supervisor mainly concern client relationships, overall project objectives, critical design and technical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.

Requirements:

We’re looking for an experienced architectural designer to support our thriving K-12 education practice. The successful candidate would have the following skills and experience:

  • 5 Minimum Years of Experience as an architectural designer
  • 2-year Professional Degree in Architecture (or related field of study) from an accredited College or University
  • Knowledge of building construction details and materials
  • Demonstrated skills in English for both oral and written communications
  • Skill and Experience with all aspects of project delivery, including conceptual design and programming, schematic design, design development, construction document production, consultant coordination, client interaction, construction administration, etc.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • LEED Accredited Professional (AP) is desired
