Job description

Senior Architect – K12 Design Leader (Minnesota)

Design the future of education. Lead with purpose. Build something that matters.

We’re seeking a passionate, forward‑thinking Senior Architect to lead our Minnesota K12 design team—a rare opportunity to shape inspiring learning environments while growing into a senior leadership role within a respected, multi‑state practice.

If you’re the kind of architect who loves taking a project from concept through construction, who thrives on mentoring others, and who wants your work to directly impact students, educators, and communities—keep reading.

Why This Role Is Different

Our K12 practice partners with public and private school districts across New York, Wisconsin, Virginia, Minnesota, and West Virginia. From new school buildings and major additions to safety, security, and facility upgrades, we serve as trusted advisors—often the first call when challenges arise.

You won’t just design buildings here. You’ll help districts solve problems, plan for the future, and create environments where students thrive. And you’ll do it alongside a team that genuinely has each other’s backs.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Inspire

  • Guide and grow the Minnesota K12 team.
  • Mentor emerging architects in design, production, and technical coordination.
  • Lead the development and execution of construction documents.
  • Collaborate closely with internal architects, engineers, and clients.

Design with Impact

  • Drive projects from concept through construction administration.
  • Attend client and project meetings as a trusted design leader.
  • Apply strong technical detailing and specification expertise.
  • Ensure compliance with IBC, Life Safety Code, ADA, and architectural standards.

Elevate the Practice

  • Strengthen client relationships and represent the firm with professionalism.
  • Help shape strategic growth in Minnesota’s K12 market.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, transparency, and excellence.
What You Bring
  • 10+ years of experience in a design firm.
  • 5+ years of dedicated K12 experience.
  • Strong background in design, construction documents, and construction administration.
  • Minnesota architectural license (or reciprocity eligibility).
  • 4- or 5‑year professional degree in Architecture or related field.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
  • Deep knowledge of building codes, life safety, and ADA requirements.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, SketchUp, and related tools.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and remotely when needed.
  • Willingness for occasional local travel.
  • A genuine passion for architecture and educational design.
What You’ll Love Here

When asked what they love most about working here, our team consistently says:

  • We truly have each other’s backs.
  • Flexible, hybrid work environment.
  • Respect‑based, team‑oriented culture.
  • Transparent communication at every level.
  • Exposure to diverse projects and clients across multiple states.
  • Real opportunities for career mobility and leadership growth.

We invest in our people through a structured annual career development process designed to support advancement, professional growth, and long‑term ownership potential.

The Opportunity

This isn’t just a project manager role. This is a leadership platform. You’ll have the autonomy to lead, the support to succeed, and the opportunity to grow into senior leadership while making a measurable impact on communities across Minnesota.

If You’re Ready To
  • Challenge the status quo.
  • Deliver high‑performing results.
  • Mentor the next generation of architects.
  • And design spaces that shape the future.
