Qualifications

• Registered architect with SACAP or equivalent, in good standing.
• Minimum 8 years post-graduate experience in architectural practice, commercial focus.
• Proven leadership of projects from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

About the Role

The Senior Architect will be responsible for the entire architectural process, from conceptualization and design development to construction administration, ensuring that projects meet high standards of aesthetic quality, functionality, and environmental responsibility. You will collaborate closely with clients, engineers, contractors, and regulatory bodies to bring complex projects to fruition. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of commercial building projects from conception through to completion.
• Develop architectural concepts and detailed designs, ensuring they align with client requirements, sustainability goals, and building codes.
• Prepare design proposals, presentations, and project documentation for clients and stakeholders.
• Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers to ensure integrated and efficient building systems.
• Administer construction contracts, conducting site visits, reviewing shop drawings, and resolving site issues.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant building regulations, zoning ordinances, and environmental standards.
• Mentor and guide junior architects and design team members.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in architectural design, sustainable building technologies, and construction methods.
• Foster strong client relationships and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Professional registration as an Architect (e.g., PrArch) with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP).
• Minimum of 8 years of post-graduate experience in architectural practice, with a significant focus on commercial building design.
• Proven experience leading architectural projects from inception to completion.
• Strong portfolio showcasing a range of successful commercial projects with an emphasis on sustainable design.
• In-depth knowledge of sustainable design principles, green building certifications (e.g., Green Star SA), and energy-efficient technologies.
• Proficiency in architectural design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
• Excellent project management, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
• Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, and materials.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
