Job summary

Crate and Barrel's PPCF Technology team is seeking a Senior Architect, Planning & Merchandising to own the architectural vision across supply chain planning, merchandise financial planning, and data integration.

This fully remote, individual contributor role requires 8+ years in software engineering, 5+ in ecommerce, and 3 years in architecture, with proven ability to guide cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required: Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in the Ecommerce space.
• 3 years of architecture experience.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to architectural vision, strategy, standards, policies, and best practices within a domain, business area, or platform, providing guidance and expertise to ensure alignment with organizational goals
• Provides technical leadership and design guidance to development teams, assisting them in making architectural design decisions, and ensuring adherence to established standards and best practices
• Helps create proof-of-concepts for new systems / designs and works with teams integrating novel solutions into their domains
• Collaborates with other architects and teams to ensure alignment of architectural solutions within a domain, business area, or platform, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting knowledge sharing
• Designs and documents architectural solutions that meet business and technical requirements, including creating detailed diagrams, specifications, and other artifacts
• Participates in architectural design discussions and decisions, representing their program’s or team's architectural needs, and advocating for solutions that align with the overall architectural vision
• Drive the adoption of best practices in architecture, agile software engineering, and knowledge management, across the organization
• Identify and mitigate architectural risks and technical debt, ensuring the long-term health and sustainability of our systems
• Ensure that architectural designs meet non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability
• Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including design specifications, diagrams, and technical standards

You will own the architectural vision, design governance, and integration strategy across supply chain planning, merchandise financial planning, and data integration — collaborating with engineering teams, business planning and merchandising stakeholders, and implementation partners to deliver robust, scalable, well-governed solutions.
