Job summary

Kimley-Horn, a Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For, seeks a Senior Esri Enterprise Systems Architect/Administrator in Cary, NC. You will own the ArcGIS Enterprise architecture, manage multi-server deployments, and lead migrations while mentoring the Geospatial Platform Services team.

The role emphasizes data governance, backup/DR, and secure integration of agentic AI into workflows. The position is in-office with location-dependent compensation and opportunities to influence platform strategy

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a geospatial field.
8+ years of Esri ArcGIS Enterprise administration with at least one full lifecycle migration led end-to-end.
Deep experience with ArcGIS Enterprise components (Server, Portal, Notebook Server, ArcGIS Monitor, Data Store).
Experience with Azure cloud environments and automated backup/recovery approaches.

Responsibilities

Own architecture and long-term roadmap for ArcGIS Enterprise environment across large server deployments.
Design and implement data lifecycle and archival strategies for Portal content.
Own enterprise geodatabase performance in PostgreSQL and SQL Server at scale.
Establish data governance standards to ensure data quality and performance.
Partner on backup/DR strategy and validate recovery processes during transitions.
Coordinate with patching/vendors to ensure coverage; avoid gaps.
Develop runbooks, standards, and documentation to avoid knowledge silos.
Evaluate monitoring tooling to ensure accuracy and health across infrastructure.
Drive continuous improvement across geospatial infrastructure, workflows, and team capability.
Serve as senior escalation point for complex production issues.
