Job summary

BMAC in Walla Walla, WA is seeking a Lead Accountant to provide strategic fiscal support to the CFO and oversee AR operations. You will ensure accurate revenue recognition, reconciliations, and compliance with accounting policies, serving as a key operational back-up to the CFO.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years in accounting, with preference for nonprofit or grant-funded environments and experience with MIP, QuickBooks, and ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Four years of progressively responsible accounting experience including AR, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP and accounting software (Abila MIP, QuickBooks) preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong data management skills.
• Knowledge of HUD regulations and property management accounting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Accounts Receivable operations, including grant billing, invoicing, cash receipts, and aging.
• Review AR transactions for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance.
• Oversee monthly bank reconciliations and closings; prepare supporting schedules.
• Provide staff coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development.
• Collaborate with program managers to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition.
