Job summary

City of Hopewell is seeking an experienced aquatic programs coordinator to lead and coordinate advanced aquatic programs and facility operations. You will supervise lifeguards and instructors, oversee maintenance, assist with staff recruitment and scheduling, and ensure a safe, engaging environment for patrons.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in recreation and parks or related field, 3+ years of program development, and ARC certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in recreation and parks, sports management or related field.
• Minimum of three (3) years developing, scheduling and coordinating aquatic programming.
• Minimum of three (3) years performing routine pool maintenance.
• Experience in training aquatic staff and recruiting staff.

Responsibilities

• Plans, coordinates, and facilitates aquatic programs and activities.
• Lead aquatic staff with day-to-day guidance, mentoring, and support.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and staff scheduling.
• Assumes operational responsibilities in the absence of supervision.
• Monitor pool patrons for safety and enforce rules.
• Perform rescues and provide First Aid/CPR/AED as needed.
• Coordinate with schools, groups, and organizations regarding programming.
• Promote programs via flyers, social media, and outreach.
• Maintain water chemistry and pump room operations; perform routine maintenance.
