Job summary

Caterpillar’s Cat Digital Cybersecurity team seeks a Senior Application Security Engineer to guide software engineers on cybersecurity, influence bug-level decisions, and enable automated security tooling across a portfolio of applications. You will help securely design, build, and deploy modern software solutions within Caterpillar Digital.

This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer transitioning to full‑time cybersecurity, collaborating with engineers to deliver secure software

Qualifications

• Experience as a software engineer with cybersecurity focus.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Salesforce).
• Ability to analyze and remediate security findings from SAST/DAST and other tests.
• Familiarity with OWASP Top 10, CWE Top 25, ASVS or equivalent guidelines.
• Strong collaboration with software engineers, architects and product owners.

Responsibilities

• Guide engineers on cybersecurity issues across a portfolio of apps.
• Influence security and prioritization decisions at bug/story level.
• Enable and monitor automated defect detection tooling (CodeQL, Rapid7).
• Manage security test onboarding and intake for assessments.
• Consult on practices to improve security maturity per Cat Digital scorecards.
• Draft corrective actions with engineers and architects.
