Job summary

Reddit is seeking a Senior Staff Applied Scientist for the Science Platform team, focusing on agentic analytics, causal inference, and forecasting. You will lead scientific direction, validate methods, and ship capabilities used company-wide.

You will collaborate with data scientists and software engineers to build an analytics agent, deploy robust Python software, and communicate assumptions with clear uncertainty. This is a fully remote role in the United States.

Qualifications

• PhD in Statistics, Economics, CS, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research or related field, or Master’s with comparable depth.
• 8+ years in industry post-PhD or 10+ years with Master’s in applied science, data science, or scientific software development.
• Strong knowledge of statistical inference, econometrics, and causal methods for observational data.

Responsibilities

• Define scientific roadmap for agentic analytics and forecasting at scale.
• Research, evaluate, and implement emerging methods from papers to prototypes.
• Design analytics agent architecture and produce reproducible results.
• Build causal inference tools for evaluating product changes.
• Develop forecasting capabilities for business metrics and scenario analysis.
• Create evaluation frameworks and automated checks for methodological accuracy.
• Own production code for scientific methods in collaboration with engineers.
• Translate analytical needs into platform capabilities and documentation.
• Mentor scientists and engineers and communicate methodological tradeoffs.
