Job summary

Amazon is seeking an HRI Applied Scientist to build living, personal, and engaging robot-human interactions. You will focus on verbal and non-verbal conversational systems, social dynamics, memory, and long-term relationships between robots and people.

Responsibilities include leading projects, mentoring junior scientists, and bridging research with engineering deployment. Strong candidate will have deep ML experience and a track record of publications or patents.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with 4+ years in CS/CE/ML or related field.
• Experience publishing in top-tier venues or patents.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop interactive systems leveraging LLMs and multimodal inputs for social robot behavior.
• Design conversational systems with turn-taking, grounding, and context from environment/history.
• Integrate perceptual sensor streams to understand social context and produce lifelike interactions.
• Develop memory/personalization systems for long-term relationships with users.
