Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an Applied Scientist for the Foundational AI (FAI) team to advance GenAI technology with large language models. You will build RL Gym environments, evaluate their impact on frontier model progress, and contribute to practical, high‑impact AI products.

Collaboration with engineers and researchers is central to this role. The ideal candidate has a strong deep learning background, 3+ years of ML model building experience, and a track record in applied research.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s with 6+ years applied research experience.
• 3+ years building ML models for business use.
• Proficiency in Java/C++/Python and DL methods.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop RL Gyms and assess usefulness for frontier model advancement.
• Support foundational model development in an applied research role.
• Collaborate with engineering to integrate algorithms into systems.
• Present findings in science reviews and contribute to papers.
