TR Labs, the AI Research & Development arm of Thomson Reuters, seeks a Senior Applied Scientist to lead end-to-end applied research projects in legal intelligence, tax automation, or regulatory compliance. Translate business challenges into technical solutions, assess feasibility, and deliver scalable AI capabilities while mentoring scientists and guiding technical direction.

Qualifications

• PhD or Masters in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field.
• 5+ years building and deploying production IR, NLP, ML, or GenAI systems.
• Leading end-to-end AI project delivery in cross-functional environments.
• Excellent technical judgment and evaluation expertise.
• Strong communication with ability to influence direction.
• Experience developing methods for tax/legal/medical domains.
• Expertise in RAG architectures, agentic frameworks, or tool-using systems.
• Publications at ACL/EMNLP/NAACL/NeurIPS/ICLR/SIGIR/KDD.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end applied research projects driving product innovation in legal/tax/regulatory domains.
• Translate business challenges into technical AI solutions and determine feasibility.
