Job summary

MITRE is seeking an Operations Research Analyst to join the Operations Analysis department. You will apply advanced analytical techniques and modeling to support defense and public sector projects, frame problems, and present actionable results to sponsor audiences.

A mix of on-site and remote work is expected, with a strong emphasis on collaboration with experts. Required qualifications include 8+ years with a relevant degree or 6+ years with a Master’s, or a PhD with 3+ years, plus experience

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 6+ years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3+ years, or equivalent.
• Be passionate about applying operations research, statistics, and data analytics.
• Willing to adapt and learn.
• Experience with at least one optimization package (Gurobi/CPLEX/PuLP/AMPL).
• Experience with at least one modern programming language (Python/R/Java).
• Experience with at least one simulation platform (Stella/Simio/Arena/AnyLogic/SimPy/RSimmer).
• Active Secret clearance and eligibility for Top Secret.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytical and mathematical modeling techniques to inform policy and acquisition decisions to maximize operational effectiveness.
• Frame problems, collect data, develop & code customized algorithms, identify risks, and incorporate domain context.
• Present results in an intuitive, actionable manner including data visualization artifacts.
• Work independently and with a team of technical staff and domain experts.
• Work successfully both in a remote environment and on-site.
