Job summary

MITRE in McLean, VA is seeking an Operations Research Analyst to join the Operations Analysis department. You will apply advanced analytical methods to inform policy and acquisition decisions, frame problems, and develop customized algorithms for insightful results.

The role requires 5 years of OR/IE/Data Science experience or 3 years with a Master’s (PhD accepted). An active Secret clearance is required, with eligibility for Top Secret.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's in related fields or 3 years with a Master’s, or PhD with relevant experience.
• Passionate about applying OR, statistics, and data analytics to real world problems.
• Willing to adapt and learn.
• Experience with at least one optimization package (Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP, AMPL).
• Experience with at least one programming language (Python, R, Java).
• Experience with at least one simulation platform (Stella, Simio, Arena, AnyLogic, SimPy, RSimmer).
• Must have an active Secret US government security clearance and eligible for Top Secret clearance; US citizenship required.
• Position requires 4 days on site.

Responsibilities

• Apply advanced analytical and mathematical modeling to inform policy and acquisition decisions.
• Frame problems, collect data, develop and code customized algorithms, identify risks, and add domain context.
• Present results in intuitive, actionable formats for sponsor audiences, including data visualizations.
• Work independently and with a team of technical staff and domain experts.
• Collaborate effectively in both remote and on-site environments.
