Job summary

Procore Technologies seeks a Staff Applied Research Scientist to lead hands-on ML projects for spatial intelligence using construction drawings, BIM, and project data. You will translate complex problems into scalable production systems, collaborating with ML engineers, software engineers, and domain experts.

The role combines hands-on coding with technical direction, shaping the team's engineering standards and supporting Procore’s broader platform. Hybrid onsite in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience building production software systems, including applied machine learning components.
• Strong experience designing, training, and deploying ML models using Python and modern ML frameworks.
• Solid foundation in CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, and system design.

Responsibilities

• Act as the day‑to‑day technical lead for applied ML projects within the Frontier Models & Spatial Intelligence team.
• Design, implement, and iterate on ML systems that analyze 2D drawings and BIM data to detect clashes and constructability risks.
• Lead hands‑on development of model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines with other engineers.
• Drive proof‑of‑concept work to rapidly validate technical approaches.
• Ensure long‑term health, performance, and maintainability of ML codebases and systems.
• Set and uphold engineering quality standards through code reviews and mentorship.
• Collaborate with partner teams to integrate spatial intelligence systems into Procore’s platform.
