Job summary

Procore seeks a Staff ML Data Engineer to design and build data systems powering frontier-scale ML research and AI products, with a focus on spatial intelligence and multimodal data. You will help researchers curate, transform, and operate on large datasets transitioning from experimentation to production.

You will work closely with ML researchers and system architects, remaining hands-on while providing technical leadership in data quality, architecture, and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years designing and operating complex data systems.
• Strong SQL and Python; data-intensive systems experience.
• Experience building scalable ML data pipelines.
• Knowledge of data modeling, lifecycle mgmt, and data quality.
• Comfort in ambiguous spaces and collaboration with researchers.
• Proven leadership through contribution and mentorship.
• Strong communication for research and engineering audiences.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for data engineering supporting frontier model research.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable batch and streaming pipelines for multimodal data.
• Translate experimental workflows into reliable, repeatable data systems.
• Lead dataset curation, versioning, and lineage workflows.
• Establish data quality standards, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Contribute to data architecture decisions across environments.
• Identify and prototype improvements in data workflows.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and design discussions.
