Job summary

Altamira Technologies is seeking a Senior Applied Mathematician to advance statistical methods for U.S. Air Force and intelligence missions. The role focuses on probabilistic modeling, change detection, and resident space object characterization using noisy data.

You will work with mission analysts, engineers, and software developers to translate complex mathematics into practical analytic tools, while ensuring rigorous documentation and communication with government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field with 10+ years applying advanced statistical methods.
• Experience developing probabilistic algorithms or statistical learning approaches.
• Ability to communicate technical results to stakeholders and mission teams.
• Ability to satisfy security and access requirements for national security programs.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert in applied mathematics, probability theory, stochastic processes and statistical inference.
• Develop probabilistic algorithms, statistical models, and hypothesis tests for change detection and mission-data analysis.
• Support radar-data processing and change-detection research, development, integration, testing, and evaluation.
• Characterize resident space objects using noisy, sparse, or incomplete observational data.
• Apply statistical and machine-learning techniques to identify anomalies and improve analytic performance.
• Design experiments, evaluate algorithm performance, interpret results, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate mission needs into implementable analytic solutions.
• Document methods, assumptions, results, and recommendations in technical reports.
