Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Senior Lead Applied AI Scientist to design, build, deploy, and continuously improve production-scale AI solutions across agents, generative, ML, and more. You will partner with business, product, and engineering leaders to translate high-value opportunities into AI-powered solutions with measurable impact.

You’ll combine deep AI expertise with strong software engineering, experimentation, and product delivery skills.

Qualifications

• Seven plus years in applied AI with production deployments.
• Proven track record delivering AI solutions with measurable impact.
• Deep expertise in ML, statistics, experimentation, and modern AI techniques.
• Hands-on with LLMs, RAG, agentic and ML solutions.
• Experience with AI evaluation, model performance, and production monitoring.
• Proficient with Python and PyTorch/TensorFlow.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and productionize AI solutions end-to-end.
• Partner with business and product teams to define success metrics.
• Develop advanced AI systems including generative and retrieval-based models.
• Define evaluation frameworks to improve quality, safety, and cost.
• Collaborate with Engineering on scalable ML systems using MLOps.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on AI initiatives.
