Job summary

Lumen is hiring a Senior Lead Applied AI Scientist to design, build, deploy, and improve production-scale AI solutions across enterprise AI workloads. You’ll partner with product, engineering, and business teams to translate opportunities into measurable outcomes.

You’ll lead the development of advanced AI systems, mentor engineers, and shape deployment practices with MLOps and LLMOps, ensuring performance, safety, and scalability at scale.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in applied AI and ML deployments.
• Proven track record delivering AI solutions with measurable business impact.
• Deep expertise in ML, statistics, experimentation, and modern AI techniques.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, retrieval, agentic architectures.
• Strong AI evaluation, model performance optimization, and production monitoring.
• Proficient in Python and PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, MLflow.
• Experience with MLOps, LLMOps, cloud AI platforms, APIs.
• Strong product mindset and ability to communicate with technical/business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy production-scale AI solutions.
• Partner with business and product teams to define success metrics.
• Develop AI systems using ML, generative AI, retrieval, and agents.
• Define evaluation frameworks to improve quality, reliability, and cost.
• Collaborate with Engineering to deliver scalable AI solutions with MLOps.
• Create reusable frameworks and standards for enterprise AI adoption.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship on AI initiatives.
