Black Eagle Defense is seeking a Senior Applied AI Engineer III to join a fast-moving AI team that delivers mission-critical capabilities. You will design AI-enabled analytics apps, create LLM/RAG workflows, and transform complex datasets into actionable insights.

You will mentor engineers and influence the team's technical direction. Role requires deep SWE background, production-grade Python, and experience with data platforms, SQL, and DS libraries.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of SWE experience in similar scope is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline is required.
• 4 additional SWE years may substitute for a degree.
• Proven production-grade software development using Python is required.
• Experience with data science, ML, or statistics is required.
• Experience with core DS libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) is needed.
• Hands-on experience building AI/ML applications and data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design AI-enabled analytics applications using Python and modern software practices.
• Perform EDA, feature engineering, statistical analysis, and ML on mission datasets.
• Develop pattern-of-life, anomaly detection, clustering, and predictive analytics.
• Build RAG and LLM-powered workflows for analytical processes.
• Collaborate with mission customers to tailor AI-driven solutions.
• Integrate structured and unstructured data sources into scalable apps.
• Evaluate emerging AI/ML techniques for mission applicability.
• Mentor junior engineers and shape team technical direction.
