Job summary

Black Eagle Defense is seeking a Senior Software Engineer III - AI Infrastructure to lead the design, development, and operation of the next generation AI infrastructure that powers enterprise applications. Qualifications

• Twelve (12) years' SWE experience in programs/contracts of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline; four additional SWE years may substitute for degree.
• Experience designing, building, deploying, and operating large-scale production systems.
• Deep expertise integrating complex systems across technologies and environments.
• Hands-on cloud engineering and deployment in AWS environments.
• Advanced Kubernetes administration and modern deployment patterns.
• Strong Python development for infrastructure, automation, and apps.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, operation, and evolution of AI infrastructure at scale.
• Deliver production AI services and applications, including RAG and autonomous agents.
• Provide technical leadership across AI infrastructure initiatives and governance.
• Mentor team members, coach for professional development, and coordinate efforts.
• Establish standards, governance, and best practices for enterprise AI capabilities.
• Drive adoption of modern technologies and engineering methodologies.
• Oversee monitoring, logging, and observability to improve platform visibility.
• Ensure availability, reliability, and security of AI platform components and infrastructure.
• Communicate status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders at multiple levels.
• Balance hands-on work with leadership, coordination, and strategic planning.
