QuEra Computing Inc. is standing up a new AI Engineering team to turn high‑value ideas from our company workshop into real, deployable tools. You will build LLM‑ and agent‑powered software that makes complex, slow, and expertise‑gated steps faster, cheaper, and more accessible — from machine bring‑up to everyday engineering.

This senior, high-autonomy role is designed for someone at the top of their craft. You will own projects end to end, set the technical patterns the team builds on, and raise

Qualifications

• Deep software-engineering expertise and a track record of shipping production software at scale (primarily Python).
• Substantial hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications: prompt and agent design, tool/function calling, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluation.
• Proven work with agentic systems and agentic coding workflows — integrating agents that act against real systems safely.
• Architectural judgment to design end-to-end systems across backend services, APIs, and deployment.
• High autonomy and ownership; ships projects with minimal oversight.
• Demonstrated impact with shipped software and real-world delivery; strong communication and mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Build and ship internal AI tools end to end—from idea to deployed product.
• Set technical direction and reusable patterns for the AI Engineering team.
• Design and deploy LLM and agentic systems with guardrails and human oversight.
• Collaborate with engineering, hardware, operations to turn ideas into tools.
• Create shared components and infrastructure to speed up other teams.
• Right-size models, optimize cost/latency, and measure quality.
• Mentor teammates and foster strong engineering practices (docs, tests, estimates).
• Drive work to completion independently or stop when needed.
