Job summary

OpenAI seeks an Applied AI Engineer to combine deep technical judgment with customer leadership, taking ambitious AI ideas from use-case scoping through prototyping, evaluation, production launch, and scale.

The role is based in NYC with a hybrid model (3 days in office weekly) and relocation assistance for new hires. You'll work with top customers to deploy advanced AI solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on technical experience in AI/ML.
• Proven track record leading production-scale AI/ML systems.
• Strong Python and JS/TS coding in production.

Responsibilities

• Partner with platform customers as the technical lead to ideate and build apps on our API.
• Forge relationships with CTOs and AI leaders to ensure scalable deployments.
• Provide guidance to maximize business impact and accelerate time-to-value.
• Build prototypes, pilots, and model evaluations with customer teams.
• Collaborate with Product and Research to validate frontier AI capabilities.
• Scale the Applied AI Engineer function via sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Evaluate emerging model capabilities and translate into practical recommendations.
• Work with customer teams through on-site workshops; travel as needed.
