Job summary

Element Six, part of De Beers Group, is a global leader in the design, development and production of synthetic diamond and tungsten carbide supermaterials. The successful candidate will be an outstanding, hands-on scientist or engineer with an in-depth technical knowledge and a strong understanding of optical and thermal applications.

They will be an integral part of a team tasked with the development of new opportunities and will have a strong focus on end-user requirements and system

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Optics or Thermal management or related discipline; strong background in optics or thermal management.
• 3+ years in a similar scientific or engineering role preferred.
• Proven ability to manage internal/external resources (design, analysis, fabrication).
• CAD/FEA/CFD modelling experience desirable; excellent written communication.
• Track record of delivering on commitments and working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop an in-depth technical understanding of synthetic diamond.
• Become in-house expert on optical and laser-based applications of CVD diamond and diamond-enabled products.
• Collaborate with customers and engineers to design prototypes and secure contracts.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.
• Track trends and opportunities in end-user requirements and manufacturing processes.
• Collaborate with product development, operations and sales to meet customer needs.
• Manage documentation including marketing materials and product databases.
• Use CAD to develop drawings, BOMs and routing spreadsheets for sales and prototyping teams.
