Job description

This role is for a highly skilled and hands‑on Senior Applications Development Engineer at the Assistant Vice President level within the Wealth Investment Technology Advisory and Brokerage Organization. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the strategic platform and product development for the Wealth Advisory business, contributing directly to key multi‑year, transformational initiatives such as the BlackRock Portfolio Solutions partnership, Unified Managed Accounts, and the development of an integrated portfolio analytics solution within the end‑to‑end ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct feasibility studies, IT planning, risk technology, and estimate time & cost for new or revised applications systems.
  • Monitor development phases from analysis and design to implementation, testing, and deployment, and provide user and operational support.
  • Analyze complex problems using specialty knowledge; evaluate business processes and industry standards and make judgment.
  • Recommend and implement security measures for post‑implementation analysis to ensure system design and functionality.
  • Consult with users, clients and technology groups on issues, recommend advanced programming solutions, and support customer exposure systems.
  • Ensure essential procedures are followed and help define operating standards and processes.
  • Coach or mentor new or lower‑level analysts.
  • Operate with limited direct supervision, exercising independence and autonomy.
  • Act as subject matter expert to senior stakeholders and other team members.
  • Assess risk in business and technical decisions, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, policy, and escalating control issues.
  • Contribute to the full SDLC for strategic platform and product initiatives.
  • Drive hands‑on front‑to‑back development using Angular, SpringBoot, Kafka, and Oracle.
  • Ensure adherence to architectural blueprints, coding standards, and best practices.
  • Provide evaluation of business and system processes to inform development decisions.
  • Support feasibility studies, time and cost estimates, and IT planning for projects.
  • Participate in implementing new or revised application systems that support major partnerships and solutions such as BlackRock Portfolio Solutions, Unified Managed Accounts, and portfolio analytics.
  • Collaborate across product, business, and technology groups for seamless integration and delivery.
  • Explore and adopt AI tools and prompt‑based engineering to improve workflows and application features.
  • Recommend security measures and best practices for robust system design and post‑implementation.
  • Define operating procedures and help shape development team standards.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations in all decisions.
Qualifications

Education

Compensation & Location

Primary Location: Jersey City, New Jersey, United States. Salary range: $121,200 – $181,800.
