Job summary

GE Appliances, a Haier company, seeks a Senior Applications Chemist to lead detergent and wash additive development for our appliances. You will drive formulation testing, performance evaluation, and coatings integration with engineering teams to ensure reliability and consumer satisfaction.

You will apply expertise in surfactant chemistry, analytical methods, and regulatory awareness to optimize cost/performance, support environmental compliance, and troubleshoot field issues across product

Qualifications

• Master’s in chemistry; Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, with significant related experience.
• 5+ years of experience in detergent formulation and cleaning chemistry.
• Strong knowledge of surfactants, builders, enzymes, polymers, and specialty additives used in detergents and wash additives.
• Hands-on expertise with analytical techniques (HPLC, GC-MS, spectroscopy, titration, etc).
• Excellent problem-solving, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated passion for teamwork. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the evaluation and development of residential dishwasher and laundry detergents and wash additives.
• Collaborate with detergent and ingredient manufacturers to balance cost and performance.
• Support regulatory compliance and environmental sustainability initiatives.
• Develop and conduct laboratory and appliance-based performance testing to validate cleaning efficacy and durability.
• Partner with engineering teams to align detergents and additives with appliance features and wash cycles.
• Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot field issues and address customer feedback.
• Assist coatings consultants across powder, pre-paint, wet paint, PVD, electroplating, and graphics.
• Collaborate on specifications and methods for coatings technology and supplier root-cause resolution.
