Job summary

Alkegen is seeking a Principal Application Engineer in Houston to lead insulation, coatings and fireproofing projects. You will review specs, generate cost models, and prepare detailed proposals leveraging SolidWorks, AutoCAD and ERP data.

The role demands deep technical expertise and strong client communication. You will develop cost-efficient solutions, stamp drawings, and present technical reports while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or Civil Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in protective coatings, insulation, passive fire protection in LNG/petrochemical/refining.
• Strong knowledge of Texas engineering laws and codes; proficient CAD and ERP tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and communication skills; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Review specs and drawings to create accurate cost estimates for projects.
• Use CAD software to generate 3D models and manufacturing drawings.
• Analyze material, labor, tooling and overhead for installed cost models.
• Support bids with detailed cost breakdowns and technical justification.
• Prepare technical reports, CIFDS, and present findings to clients and teams.
• Lead site inspections and ensure quality and safety standards.
• Travel approx. 25% to customer sites and coordinate with stakeholders.
