Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ seeks an Application Development Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Application Development team, coordinate delivery, coach engineers, and contribute hands-on software development and integration work.

You will partner with IT leadership and stakeholders to prioritize work, improve development practices, and ensure secure, well-documented solutions across APIs, Azure, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in application development, enterprise applications & system integration.
• 3+ years of experience leading technical teams or in a team-lead capacity.
• Hands-on experience with APIs, cloud services, Azure Functions, OData, Dynamics 365, Power Platform, or related Microsoft technologies.
• Experience with agile software development methodologies, SDLC practices, testing, CI/CD, and production support processes.
• Experience working across cross-functional technical and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Application Development team, including work coordination and delivery follow-up.
• Coach and support team members across development, QA, integrations, automation, and low-code development.
• Establish team cadence, accountability, and regular performance feedback.
• Coordinate work intake, prioritization, resource planning, and delivery tracking across projects.
• Perform hands-on software development, integration, and problem solving as needed to support delivery.
• Design, develop, and support integrations using APIs, Azure services, Azure Functions, OData, Dynamics 365, Power Platform.
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment, and support of solutions with quality, security, and maintainability.
• Promote SDLC best practices, documentation, code reviews, testing, release management, and CI/CD.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and improve business processes.
• Align priorities and strengthen team operating discipline.
