Job summary

The Iowa Department of Management (DOM), Division of Information Technology (DoIT), seeks an Application Developer to enhance and support a portfolio of systems. You will work with business partners and vendors to troubleshoot, improve performance, and ensure data integrity across critical applications.

Qualifications

• Experience in application development and database management.
• Ability to analyze, document, and resolve defects.
• Proficient in SQL, data maintenance, and report development.
• Strong communication and collaboration with vendors.
• Ability to translate data into actionable insights with BI tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage, maintain, and support systems of moderate to high complexity.
• Analyze and resolve defects reported by partners or vendors.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries and data export jobs.
• Maintain database integrity with import jobs and scripts.
• Troubleshoot complex issues by reviewing code and identifying solutions.
• Plan and perform system testing including automation testing.
• Review business requirements to understand design and needs.
• Collaborate with vendors to clarify code ownership and improvements.
• Provide mentorship to junior developers and guide day-to-day tasks.
• Support units with data analysis and dashboards.
