Job description

Senior Application Analyst - MEDITECH LAB
MEDITECH Talent Acquisition Manager, HCA Professional Services
Summary

CereCore is seeking to hire a Senior Laboratory Application Analyst to join our Implementation Delivery Team as a MEDITECH LAB subject matter expert (SME). This role is responsible for leading and supporting full lifecycle LAB implementations, including workflow design, dictionary build, validation, testing, go‑live support, and post‑live stabilization. The Senior Analyst will partner closely with both CereCore and HCA in a shared capacity, supporting new implementations, centralization, and special projects.

While MEDITECH experience (MAGIC, C/S, 6.x, or Expanse) is highly preferred, candidates with LAB implementation experience in any major LIS/EHR platform (Epic Beaker, Cerner PathNet, Sunquest, Orchard, etc.) will be considered.

This position requires extensive travel, with expectations ranging from 50–75% annually, based on client and project needs.

Responsibilities
Implementation & Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the LAB SME for implementations, upgrades, and optimizations across MEDITECH (Magic or Expanse).
  • Lead LAB workflow design sessions with lab directors, supervisors, medical technologists, and other clinical stakeholders.
  • Translate workflow needs into system configuration and build specifications aligned with MEDITECH best practices.
  • Perform and/or oversee LAB dictionary build, including Order/Result workflows, Specimen Collection, Microbiology, Blood Bank (if applicable), QC, and related components.
  • Support analyzer and instrument interface workflows in collaboration with technical interface teams.
Project Execution
  • Manage assigned LAB build tasks, deliverables, and timelines with minimal supervision.
  • Develop project documentation including requirements, functional designs, workflow diagrams, and test scripts.
  • Lead or participate in unit, integrated, and user‑acceptance testing events to ensure successful validation outcomes.
  • Provide onsite or remote support during go‑live, stabilization, and transition‑to‑operations periods.
  • Advise clients on optimal LAB workflows, system capabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies and elevate them proactively in alignment with project governance.
  • Partner with Technical Operations to support post‑live updates, enhancements, and ongoing maintenance tasks.
  • Serve as a mentor or resource to junior analysts and project team members.
Process Improvement
  • Participate in lessons learned and contribute to improving internal implementation methodologies and documentation standards.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of MEDITECH LAB enhancements, version updates, and vendor‑recommended workflows.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience supporting or implementing LIS systems, with at least 3+ years focused specifically on LAB implementations.
  • Experience with at least one of the following platforms (MEDITECH, Epic Beaker, Cerner PathNet, or other LIS platforms).
  • Experience completing at least one full‑cycle LAB implementation (two or more preferred).
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations and workflows (Specimen Collection, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, etc.).
  • Experience working with analyzer instrument interfaces (e.g., Data Innovations, analyzer vendors) preferred.
  • Ability to lead workflow discussions and guide clients through decision‑making processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • MEDITECH LAB Alliance Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • Certification or licensure in a laboratory‑related discipline (MLS/MT/MLT) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory standards for laboratory operations (CLIA, CAP) is a plus.
  • Prior experience in a consulting or hospital IT implementation role.
Travel Requirements
  • Must be able and willing to travel extensively; approximately 50–75% annually, based on client and project needs.
  • Travel may include weekday onsite work during implementations, trainings, workflow sessions, and go‑lives.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
