Job summary

Workday, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Product Engineering to design and deliver high-throughput, low-latency APIs, backend services, and frameworks that power our next generation products and agents.

You will translate product requirements into scalable services, apply strong OO modeling, and drive performance, observability, and reliability while coaching junior engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in software development, architecting, building, and scaling robust systems.
• 5+ years of experience in object modeling and software design concepts.
• 4+ years of experience designing API endpoints that expose product functionality at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design and development of complex backend services and APIs.
• Design and build product functionality end to end, including domain modeling and service design.
• Drive API contracts and data models using OpenAPI and internal standards.
• Create API endpoints that expose product functionality clearly and securely at scale.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, RFCs, and coaching junior engineers.
