Job summary

Sprezzatura Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Senior Integration/API Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and support APIs and system integrations for a modernized financial and budgeting application for a federal client. The role requires extensive backend/API development skills, experience with Java, C#/.NET, Python, and OpenAPI/Swagger; and familiarity with enterprise integration patterns, security controls, and data transformations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development or systems integration experience.
• Significant hands-on API or backend development experience.
• Proficiency with Java, C#/.NET, Python, or comparable backend technologies.
• Experience with JSON, XML, REST, HTTP/HTTPS, and API specifications (OpenAPI/Swagger).
• Experience with API authentication/authorization (OAuth 2.0, tokens, certificates).
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, data mapping, transformation, and reconciliation.
• Experience with integration patterns, logging, error handling, and monitoring.
• Experience using Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience with automated API/integration tests (Postman/Newman or similar).
• Ability to meet federal background/security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Analyze interfaces, data structures, and business rules to support modernization.
• Develop API contracts, data mappings, and technical documentation.
• Build secure, reusable integration components using enterprise patterns.
• Implement authentication, authorization, validation, and error handling.
• Develop data transformation and mapping logic for cross-system exchanges.
• Collaborate with OneStream developers for external data exchange.
• Participate in CI/CD, code reviews, and production support.
• Execute automated API/integration tests and support end-to-end testing.
• Troubleshoot interfaces and data exchanges across systems.
