First Citizens Bank is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - API Development & Cloud Migration to design, develop, modernize, migrate, and support enterprise APIs across Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms.

This remote role emphasizes cloud-native, scalable API-driven solutions on AWS, API lifecycle ownership, and collaboration with architects, engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance
• 4+ years of experience building and migrating enterprise-scale APIs using AWS technologies
• Experience with API modernization and cloud migration initiatives
• Strong understanding of API security and cloud-native design

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, and support secure, scalable APIs and microservices for Payments, Money Movement, and Information Reporting platforms.
• Modernize and migrate APIs from on-prem environments to AWS cloud-native architectures.
• Develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services including API Gateway, Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, IAM, and KMS.
• Build RESTful APIs and microservices with Java, Spring Boot, and AWS-native technologies.
• Support and improve existing APIs by troubleshooting, adding features, and optimizing performance.
• Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka, SNS, and SQS for real-time processing.
• Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code with Terraform; implement CI/CD pipelines.
• Utilize observability tools such as Dynatrace, CloudWatch, X-Ray, Grafana, Splunk for monitoring.
