Job summary

Aspire Systems is seeking a Senior API Engineer to design, build, and support scalable REST APIs on Microsoft Azure, delivering secure, high‑performance services for enterprise customers. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with APIM, Azure Functions, and cloud networking, plus strong focus on reliability and governance.

You will create OpenAPI specifications, implement OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect, and drive automated CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.

• Proven experience building and hosting production‑grade APIs on Microsoft Azure.
• Hands‑on expertise with Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Functions, and Azure cloud services.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design principles and OpenAPI/Swagger standards.
• Experience implementing secure API authentication and authorization frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, secure, and support enterprise‑scale REST APIs on Azure.
• Build API solutions using Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Functions, App Services, and related Azure services.
• Create and maintain OpenAPI/Swagger specifications while adhering to API design, versioning, and documentation standards.
• Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, Microsoft Entra ID, Managed Identities, and Azure Key Vault.
• Apply Azure networking best practices, including VNets, Private Endpoints, NSGs, Firewalls, and private connectivity.
• Configure API gateway policies such as authentication, routing, caching, throttling, rate limiting, and logging.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Bicep, Terraform, ARM Templates, or similar technologies.
• Establish monitoring, diagnostics, and alerting using Azure Monitor and Application Insights.
• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and development of API engineering standards and best practices.

The Senior API Engineer will be responsible for building and supporting scalable, secure, and high-performance APIs on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with Azure API Management, Azure Functions, cloud networking, security, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD practices. Experience with MuleSoft and AI-assisted development tools is highly desirable.

• Experience building automated CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation processes.
• Strong troubleshooting, production support, testing, and monitoring experience.
• Proficiency with Git and modern DevOps/DevSecOps practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, API‑led connectivity, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience integrating MuleSoft with Azure‑based APIs and services.
• Knowledge of event‑driven architecture using Azure Service Bus and Event Grid.
• Experience with containers and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Exposure to AI‑assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot for code generation, testing, documentation, and automation.
• Microsoft Azure certifications are preferred.
