Job description

The Senior APIM Engineer / Lead is responsible for designing, building, and scaling enterprise API platforms while providing technical leadership. This role ensures APIs are secure, high-performing, and aligned with business and integration strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and manage API platforms (Azure APIM, Apigee, Mulesoft, Kong, AWS API Gateway)
• Define API standards, governance, and lifecycle management
• Implement API security (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS) and ensure compliance
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments using IaC tools
• Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot API performance and integrations
• Lead API initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate with architecture teams

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years in software/integration, including 3+ years in API management
• Strong REST/API design and API gateway experience
• Knowledge of security protocols (OAuth2, JWT, etc.)
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Familiarity with CI/CD, IaC, and networking concepts

Preferred

• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, SNS/SQS, etc.)
• Cloud certifications and exposure to regulated environments
