Pulse Labs invites an experienced API Developer to join our Engineering team. Backed by industry giants Google and Amazon, Pulse Labs, a leading UX research firm, is at the forefront of revolutionizing product development. Our mission is to provide insightful, actionable, and easily comprehensible feedback throughout the product lifecycle - from conception to market launch and beyond. Through our innovative approach, we empower leading tech companies to refine and create groundbreaking products across mobile, smart home, wearables, and automotive.

We are seeking an experienced Senior API Developer to join our engineering team and lead the development of our public-facing API infrastructure. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned developer who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about building robust, scalable API solutions that power modern applications.

As our Senior API Developer, you will be the architect behind our external-facing API ecosystem, designing and implementing solutions that enable seamless integration for our clients and partners. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape our API strategy from the ground up, working at the intersection of backend engineering and developer experience.

Responsibilities :

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints that serve millions of requests with minimal latency
• Architect scalable API infrastructure capable of handling high-concurrency loads and real-time data processing
• Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into well-designed API specifications and documentation
• Implement comprehensive API security measures including authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and data validation
• Develop and maintain SDK libraries and developer tools to facilitate seamless API integration
• Create detailed API documentation, guides, and examples to enhance developer experience
• Monitor API performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize for reliability and speed
• Drive API versioning strategies and backward compatibility standards
• Work closely with DevOps teams to ensure robust deployment pipelines and monitoring systems

Required Qualifications :

• Proven expertise as a software engineer with 10+ years of experience in API development and backend systems
• Strong proficiency in modern backend technologies (Node.js or Java)
• Extensive experience with API design patterns, RESTful services, and GraphQL
• Deep understanding of database design, optimization, and management (SQL and NoSQL)
• Solid grasp of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• Exceptional problem-solving skills with attention to scalability, security, and performance
• Experience with API testing frameworks and automated testing strategies

Preferred Qualifications :

• Previous experience building and scaling public APIs for external developers
• Knowledge of API gateway technologies and management platforms
• Experience with real-time APIs, webhooks, and event-driven architectures
• Proficiency in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Understanding of API monetization and usage analytics
• Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and API-first development
• Background in developer relations or technical writing
