Job summary

Northwood Space in Los Angeles seeks a Lead Hardware Development Engineer to guide antenna systems from concept through production and deployment. You will own multidisciplinary development spanning mechanical, RF, electronics, embedded software, and thermal management.

The role combines senior individual contributor and product leadership with hands-on design, prototype builds, and system-level trade studies, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, field-ready ground

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience developing complex hardware and antenna systems.
  • Deep expertise in at least one engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, RF, embedded, or systems).
  • Experience owning a hardware product from design through delivery.
  • Strong systems-thinking and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience building and testing hardware.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development and deployment of a Northwood antenna system or major subsystem from concept to production.
  • Translate needs into system requirements, architectures, interfaces, budgets, and verification plans.
  • Coordinate work across mechanical, electrical, RF, antenna, embedded software, thermal, manufacturing, test, supply chain, and field ops.
  • Build and manage development schedules, milestones, dependencies, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead system-level trade studies on performance, structure, power, thermal, reliability, and cost.
  • Drive prototype builds, integration, testing, root-cause investigations, and readiness reviews.
