Job summary

Harvard Medical School is seeking an Animal Care Facility Supervisor to lead the HCCM animal facility staff, ensuring outstanding animal care, safe operations, and compliance with all regulatory standards. You will supervise technicians and work with senior managers to set priorities and SOPs.

Working with researchers, veterinarians, and procurement, you will coordinate cage wash, facility maintenance, inventory, and training, while managing onboarding and performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years’ work experience in animal care facilities management with increasing responsibility.
• Minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Experience working with rodents required.
• LATg certification or eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Manage HCCM Animal Facility Staff to ensure outstanding animal care and safe operations.
• Oversee personnel management including performance, corrective actions, and onboarding.
• Establish work assignments, monitor workflow, and manage supplies inventory.
• Provide research support for animal husbandry, facility access, and space needs.
• Develop, review, and implement SOPs for animal care and cage wash operations.
• Provide training to ensure proficiency and adherence to SOPs.
• Maintain records on animal census, equipment, and attendance.
• Coordinate with EH&S to promote a safe work environment.
