Job summary

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III, Android XR Developer in San Jose to help advance XR experiences on Android. The role focuses on building tools, frameworks, and libraries to enable XR apps across devices, with collaboration across Gemini and Android teams.

Ideal candidates have strong Android exposure, Java/Kotlin/C++ skills, and a track record in design, testing, and architecture. In-person interviews are typical in this process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience programming in Java, Kotlin or C++.
• 2 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 2 years of experience with Android application development.

Responsibilities

• Creation of vertical model context protocol (MCP) tools for agentic experiences that shine on XR devices.
• Improve and customize existing MCP integrations for XR device form factors and experiences.
• Create new frameworks to help XR developers navigate user journeys that bridge Gemini integrations with Android XR application experiences.
• Collaborate closely with the Gemini and Android teams to create new capabilities for Android XR developers.
• Collaborate closely with Android XR AI researchers to bring new AI capabilities to Android XR developers.
