Job summary

Samsung Research America in Mountain View, CA is seeking an Android Systems Security Engineer to design and prototype platform security features for Samsung mobile products. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field, or 3+ years with a Master's degree; or a PhD; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• 5+ years of related experience in a professional role
• Holistic understanding of the Android software stack with deep knowledge of ARM/ARM64, Linux kernel, hypervisor, TrustZone and firmware
• Knowledge of cryptography, secure coding and exploit mitigations
• Experience applying AI to security workflows and research

Responsibilities

• Build novel systems security features for smartphones, with emphasis on ARM/ARM64, hypervisor, TrustZone, Linux kernel, and firmware components
• Work with product management and global development teams to refine security proposals, threat models, and product requirements
• Design, rapidly prototype, and implement security features and evaluate performance tradeoffs
• Communicate feature motivations, security designs, and risk tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders and reach agreement
• Use secure coding practices to implement security features and ensure security requirements are met
• Use low-level debugging tools to diagnose complex security and reliability issues
• Keep up-to-date with latest security features, vulnerability reports, exploit techniques, and threats
• Research and innovate security through patents and publications, and leverage automation and AI to streamline workflows
