Job summary

Samsung Research America is seeking an Android Systems Security Engineer to design and implement platform security features for Samsung mobile products. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field, or 3+ years with a Master's; or a PhD.
• 5+ years of related experience in a professional role.
• Experience in computer security through publications or industry work.
• Deep knowledge of Android/Linux stack, ARM/ARM64, hypervisor, TrustZone and firmware.
• Knowledge of cryptography, secure coding and exploit mitigations.
• Understanding of applying AI to security workflows and research.

Responsibilities

• Build novel systems security features for phones focusing on ARM/ARM64, hypervisor, TrustZone, Linux kernel and firmware.
• Collaborate with product management and global teams to refine security proposals, threat models, and product requirements.
• Design, prototype, and implement security features while evaluating performance tradeoffs.
• Communicate security design motivations and risk tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Apply secure coding practices and ensure security requirements are met.
• Use low-level debugging tools (JTAG, hardware debuggers, trace tools) to diagnose issues.
• Stay updated on threats and security developments in Android/mobile devices.
• Research security innovations through patents/publications and leverage AI to streamline workflows.
