Reddit is seeking a Staff Android Engineer to set technical direction for the Android Platform, leading cross-team initiatives across a large Android codebase and aligning on health, developer experience, and architecture.

You will influence senior engineers, design scalable client health and observability foundations, and champion AI-enhanced workflows while delivering impact across teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years software development with 3+ years building Android apps.
• Experience setting technical direction in a large Android codebase.
• Deep Kotlin, Android lifecycle and modern Android tech (Jetpack Compose, coroutines).
• Experience with Android platform/infrastructure work.
• Proven problem solving with measurable improvements to reliability/performance.
• Ability to influence across teams and communicate strategy clearly.
• Experience applying AI to engineering workflows with measurable benefits.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical decisions to scale Reddit’s Android Platform to the next 100M+ DAUs.
• Drive Developer Experience strategy to accelerate build/test cycles and improve release safety.
• Architect Android Client Health and Observability foundations (events, traces, dashboards).
• Champion AI-powered developer workflows.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship through architectural reviews and guidance.
